The second SRS of 2026 took place on May 23-30 in the stunning venue of Bassano del Grappa where the Italian plains meet the great alpine chain. The 5 very varied tasks combined flats and mountains.
9 out of the top 10 from the 2025 SRS raced wing tip to wing tip! With the highest WPRS in the history of the SRS, 76 points for the winner, it was an outstanding field of competitors.
The tasks were achievable and not unnecessarily long, the weather overall was good and five tasks is always on the upper end of expectations in Europe. The first tasks were in stable conditions, making the going pretty tough. There was good lift at times, making knowing when to change gears essential.
It was a great competition for team pilot Andreas ‘Pepe’ Malecki who won 2 tasks, and also the overalls. For Ross Desmond it was his first ever SRS and confirmed his place coming second overall, a mere 16 points behind the legendary Pepe. Marco Sommerfeld was third to complete the overall podium.
Vanja Eggesvik, took the win on her Ozone Lyght, with Summer Barham in second and Joanna Kocot, both on the Ozone Photon.
5 fantastic tasks in technical conditions. The atmosphere was fun, friendly and chilled, but the racing was fierce, with teams and individuals eager to win.
