The Paragliding World Cup in Krushevo, North Macedonia, has wrapped up after five tasks, two of which were stopped before the start due to strong winds and declared invalid. The week was marked by unusually hot and unstable weather, with complex conditions that proved to be far more demanding than what Krushevo typically offers.
Despite the challenges, three valid tasks provided high-level racing, with pilots navigating through turbulent thermals, shifting wind layers, and strategic convergence lines. It was a competition that demanded not just skill, but adaptability and bold decision-making.
Jouni Makkonen of Finland emerged as the overall winner, delivering consistently strong performances across the tasks.
Ozone’s Honorin Hamard took a gamble during Task 5—and it paid off. Charging ahead alone for much of the flight, he navigated the difficult conditions with precision and confidence, reaching goal nearly five minutes ahead of the chasing pack. His victory catapulted him the last from into second place overall.
Third place went to local legend Martin Jovanoski. All three were flying the Enzo 3.
In the women’s category, France’s Daphnée Ieropoli took the top spot, impressively finishing 8th overall on Task 5 flying her Zeno 2.
U.S. pilots Alexia Fischer and Violeta Jimenez secured second and third place, both flying the Enzo 3.
In the team ranking, Team Ozone came out on top, proving their strength across a variety of conditions.
While the weather didn’t play in our favor, some of the world’s very best pilots showed what’s possible even on the toughest of days — making this edition of the PWC in Krushevo a challenging yet successful competition.
Congrats to all the pilots and cheers from all the Ozone team!
