We would like to congratulate the new world champion, Maxime Pinot, who flew his Enzo 3 and Submarine combo to victory. Ozone test team member, Honorin Hamard, joined him on the podium in second place overall. 18 out of the top 20 pilots flew the Enzo 3, with the vast majority of those pilots using the Submarine as well. The Enzo 3 remains the most successful comp win in history, with 7 seasons of dominance and an unprecedented number of pilots carried to podiums all over the world.
It was a highly active comp, with 9 valid tasks flown. France took gold in the nations category, with the UK taking silver, with North Macedonia taking bronze.
We would like to thank all of the pilots who have chosen to fly Ozone over the past many years. We are deeply grateful to all of you for your support, and we look forward to many more years of collaborative innovation!
Ozone Team Pilot, Yassen Savov, reports on the event:
“From start to finish, this World Championship was playing as a French movie, with one leading Nations role and a supporting cast of 45. From day one our hosts sat us down and schooled us from the position of top three Overall and top Nation too, and they never let up, finishing top three Overall, top two Female, and top Nation - paragliding performance crystallized for all to see: this is how you race a paraglider, boys and girls.
I feel fortunate to have been able to compete and learn again in the varied playground that are the French Alps - the intense ridge and cliff soaring, the long transitions over wide valleys, lakes and forests, the pumping thermals, the scratching below inversion layers… and be taken care of by their superb and fun organisation team. But most of all, and in a twisted way, I want to thank the French team for dominating us in such a complete, uncompromising way. It inspires me to watch an athlete, a team, an artist, play at the very top of possibility, of form, of beauty.
I mention form and beauty because they matter much to me, and our new World Champion has been their agent ever since I’ve known him, flying not only for points, but beautifully - taking his own lines, pushing, surfing, feeling… Thank you for the way you fly and play the game, Maxime. You deserve this crown”
