Bill Belcourt
Do you have a nickname that you go by?
Yes, I have a couple nicknames, BBC and Yoda, but I don’t go by Yoda because there is no way I can live up to it.
Where do you live?
Salt Lake City, Utah USA
What do you do for work?
I manage the north american office for Blue Ice, a French climbing brand.
What year, and how old were you when you started flying?
I started flying in 1989. I was 25.
What other passions do you have, or activities do you enjoy?
Climbing, skiing, mtn biking.
Why is flying important to you, and what does flying mean to you?
Trying to do the most with the least is what makes it so good. The fact that it’s just tent fabric and kite string makes it pure magic. As an old flying mentor once told me “it’s just like alpine climbing, but with none of the work.”
Flying acomplishments
Please don’t make me do this….While I do understand that we stand on the foundation of our past, you gotta put the past behind you (even when it’s good) in order to focus on the future. Now and tomorrow is what matters! I will upload some cool photos though of some big XC over the last few years….
Do you have any goals, dreams or plans for the next 1-2 years that you want to share?
I’ve got some “Holy Grail” XC flights in Utah I’ve been chasing for a decade. I got one last year but that lead to imagining another bigger one. I also want to get back to Texas with the Ozone crew and hit the midwest again. Maybe Brazil in the fall. Too much to do, too little time, and I’m not getting any younger!
