It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our long-time friend and Ozone family member, Jez Coombes, a unique, charismatic, and deeply kind soul who gave his love freely and supported our flying community without limits.

Jocky Sanderson shares a heartfelt tribute:

“It is with the deepest sadness that I share the news of the passing of our much loved friend, Jez Coombes. Jez was a big man in every sense—warm-hearted, larger-than-life, and joyfully unforgettable. His kindness, boundless positivity, and sharp humour had a way of lighting up the lives of anyone who had the privilege of knowing, or even briefly meeting him.

It was an honour to co-direct the Ozone Chabre Open alongside him. His presence was a guiding force, and without him, we feel a profound sense of loss—adrift without the steady, joyful compass he provided.

Jez will always be remembered with a smile. His booming laugh, cheeky grin, and endearing asymmetric gait, will be in our memories, returning now in waves of both grief and gratitude.

Jez, you will be missed more than words can say—but we will carry your smile with us, forever.”
