The European Slalom Championships took place in the south of Spain in Bornos from June 12 – 18, 2016. It was the first FAI slalom event organized over the water to increase the safety of pilots.
There were 37 pilots competing from 7 countries. Good weather conditions allowed many slalom tasks to be run nearly every morning, which is necessary to run a proper, fair, and well played competition.
Ozone Team pilot Alex Mateos, flying a Viper 4, lead most of the competition days and managed to keep first place until the finals. Alex Mateos was flying in 2 categories, foot launch and single trike, and won both categories with a great style!
Alex reports:
"Polish team were the biggest competition for me, they were very strong and establish themselves in leading positions from the beginning of the competitions. Some of the pilots error and mechanical problems results in water splash but always with no injuries and manage to prepare their equipment to continue competition. What a pleasure to fly over water! I am very satisfy with my performance and result in this competition. I could finally show my new Viper 4, new Thor 250 and light Macfly trike. It was not so easy to switch between both categories"
Very productive result with 3 gold medals:
1st gold individual foot launch
1st gold in single trike and
1st gold in teams with 3 other French pilots
