The Ozone Chabre Open XC Comp
Published on:

The 3rd annual Chabre Open has begun!
The first two years of this event were both spectacular, with valid tasks almost every day and splendid weather. Judging by the unusually wet weather over the past few weeks in Laragne we were suspecting that our weather luck might have run out for this year, but the comp has kicked off with perfect puffy little cumulus clouds and light wind! The forecast for the next week looks quite good... we hesitate to say excellent, lest we jinx ourselves, but the mildly unstable weather could mean T-storms in the Haute Alpes to the north and east of us, with good XC clouds in the Laragne area, like today. Fingers crossed...
Thanks to the 200+ pilots who registered and the 120 who are here, we appreciate your support and we're happy to be able to provide an event like this for pilots. Education and Entertainment for all!
Daily lectures and task de-briefs are held by Jocky Sanderson, and special clinics on topics such as GPS use, Competition Strategy, Decision Making, and even 'Choosing your next wing' are given by top Ozone pilots.
Also, this year Felix Rodriguez will be flying along, showing off our latest acro prototype, chasing clouds with us on the XC course, and of course helping us to drink a bit of beer in the evenings.
The next Ozone Event, the Ozone Freeride Camp, will be held in Austria from August 15-19. For more info email [email protected] or call them at +49 8034 1034 (English Spoken).
Cheers from Laragne!
