At the 2009 French National PPG Championships, the Ozone Team cleaned up!Congratulations to Mathieu Rouanet, who is French Champion (again), and Laurent Salinas who was 2nd place in the French Champs. Both Mathieu and Laurent were flying the new Viper2.
Coralie Mateos is the new 2009 women's champion, flying her Viper 20m.
Ozone would like to send a huge thanks to Mathieu, Laurent, and Coralie, who have all be working hard at PPG competition for a long time, and training a great deal. We recognize your efforts and we're happy that they have paid off for you. And of course, we're glad you love your wings!
In Mathieu's words, a report:
"This was the most physical french championship in the past 9 years; the level is really getting higher and higher, specially with arrival of young people, and also... girls!
It has been very complete, with 10 tasks: 2 spot landings, 3 economy tasks, 3 speed navigations, and 2 manias.
A new system of ranking meant it took me a while to warm up, and a few mistakes put me low in the ranking for the first part of the competition.
At the middle, I decided to pass the second speed, and from here I came back in force to the top places. Thanks to the stability, and speed of the Viper 2 for that. An eco task let me win lot of points, as I was flying more than 5 hours with only 3 liters of fuel... I found a corner where i could fly in the wave!! I won a mania task, I won the eco task, and a speed/nav/touch task.
Laurent was a great competitor with his Viper 1 24, and he finished second! Congrats to Coralie (viper 2 20), who is the new female french champion, in the certainly highest national competition level!
We are now at the World Air games Torino, and Alexandre Matéos (17 years old, viper 20) did awsomely well yesterday, he seems to have won the first task "basket ball slalom" which is a speed task, with his Viper 20."
