Product Info
The Zeno represents the cutting edge of Ozone paraglider R&D. This highly advanced design bridges the gap between the Enzo and Mantra series, providing an option for expert pilots who are ready to move up from the Mantra M6 and other wings in its class.
This is a special glider, designed for expert pilots who are already deeply familiar with this class of wing. If you’re considering the Zeno, then you know the story of the Enzo, and you’re familiar with the Ozone R&D Team. The following is “Luc’s List” of design features for the Zeno:
- New profile from Enzo 3 research program
- New arc yielding improved handling and collapse behavior
- Excellent handling throughout the weight range
- Lowest ever line drag (12% less than Enzo 2 M)
- New top surface shaping calculation
- Optimized wing twist in accelerated flight reduces induced drag
- Profile optimized for stability in accelerated flight
- Top speed similar to Enzo 2 at same weight
- Glide performance equal to Enzo 2 at full speed
- Lightweight construction: 5.4kg in ML size
- 78 cells, optimized for performance / weight
- 2 line risers with 15cm speed limiter
- Highly effective B riser control in active air
The Pilot
The Zeno is a 2-line design that, while fitting between the M6 and Enzo, flies comfortably in either category. Its behavior and in-flight comfort rivals that of the Mantra series, yet its performance is incredibly similar to the Enzo 2. Pilots who are comfortable with the M6 or other wings in its class and are looking to learn the technicalities of flying a 2-line system will find the Zeno to be an excellent introduction to the highest levels of paragliding.
In Flight
The Zeno is not a de-tuned comp wing, or an Enzo that was forced into an EN D box. It is its own design that has evolved in parallel with the Enzo 3 research program. It contains new technology that has improved not only glide and speed, but also behavior. The Zeno is surprisingly comfortable in real XC conditions. The Ozone R&D team put countless hours into developing its compact and cohesive structure – Luc describes the feedback as being “filtered” and highly useful to the pilot, and the wing’s behavior during collapse is very manageable for the class.
The Size
M6 pilots should choose the same size of Zeno. If you are flying an M6 size ML, then choose a Zeno ML. The weight ranges are slightly different, but the Zeno performs well throughout the weight range and comfort / handling are exceptional not only at the upper end of each size. The extended range of the Zeno allows room for a competition harness and a two-reserve system, which is a requirement for some competitions, and is a good recommendation for any wing. The ML size tops out at 110, with the MS topping out at 100. Again, it is not necessary to fly the Zeno at the top of the weight range – the performance and handling are excellent throughout the range.
The Price
The Zeno is a very complex wing. Ozone pricing is based on the real cost of materials used and the amount of time in production that is needed for each glider to be built. Our fair pricing policy applies to all of our products and the Zeno is no exception. With 78 cells and a vast array of highly technical construction techniques that cut weight and ensure millimetre-precise tension across the span and chord, the Zeno is at the pinnacle of modern PG construction.
The Materials
The Zeno is constructed from a blend of 27g Porcher Sport (Zone 2 on the top surface, and all of the bottom surface), and 30D (top surface Zone 1). This is the same blend of materials used in the Enzo 2. Light materials enhance the handling and overall performance of the design through a reduction in sail inertia. Thanks to light cloth the Zeno has a more agile feel and exhibits improved behaviour in collapse recoveries and maneuvers. It is important to note that due to the extensive use of light materials in this wing, it is less durable than an M6, for example. These lightweight and high performance materials require care and caution on the ground.
Available Colours
Please note that the bottom surface of the ZENO is a solid colour matching zone 2.
