Jim Mallinson’s Dream Flight

The British flying season has been delivering fantastic conditions since day one, and several records have fallen, along with many personal bests.
On June 22nd, our good friend and Ozone team pilot, Jim Mallinson, completed a flight he’s been dreaming of for years: across the Solent in southern England to the Isle of Wight, where he grew up and learned to fly (before Ozone even existed). A few pilots flew to the island in the 90s, but at its west end, where the crossing is just over 1 km. Jim was over the sea for 7km. He left the mainland at 3500’ with a nice tailwind, but quickly dropped into an increasing sea breeze and arrived with just 600’ to spare, and celebrate with, above home.
Jim was flying his Zeno.

Congrats Jim for making it dry to the other side!
Cheers from all the Ozone team.
