Transcapixaba Hike & Fly 2026 under way in Brazil

The fourth edition of the Transcapixaba Hike & Fly kicked off yesterday, 14 July 2026, in the mountainous region of Espírito Santo, Brazil. Over the next 12 days, 26 athletes representing Brazil and five other nations will tackle a demanding 600-kilometre course, making it currently the longest continuous multi-day hike and fly crossing in the Americas.

This unique expedition requires pilots to navigate 12 mandatory turnpoints across iconic flying arenas such as Baixo Guandu, Pancas, and Castelo, which are well-known globally for major race-to-goal competitions and world-class cross-country flying conditions. To validate their route, competitors must either enter a GPS cylinder or physically reach specific signboards on the ground.

What originated as a personal adventure by Lucas Porto and Micheli Sossai has grown into Brazil’s largest multi-day hike and fly race, testing the limits of technical flying, physical endurance, and tactical decision-making over remote granite peaks and Atlantic Forest terrain. As the race organisers noted, "adventure starts where the road ends," leaving the remaining days up to the pilots' physical stamina and choices in the air.
