Expert XC Pilot and veteran instructor, Andrey Alepov, writes to us about a mega-tow his school performed in Russia recently. Andrey reports: "We have set a new record to bring a pilot to 3110m, towing. We have found a long field about 5 km. We put together many cables and came to the result of 5 km of cable. We used the tandem Magnum for a single pilot to compensate the possible load to the wing. The wind was 2 - 4 ms that day. The time of towing was 40min. The whole time of flight till the landing was 1 hr, 42 minutes. The ground temperature was 28 C. The temperature at 3110m was -0.5 C." Some photos can be seen here. That is quite impressive, we have never heard of anyone towing so high. Nice work, Andrey & Co.! Cheers from all the Team.
