Update June 15 2011- The Ozone Chabre Open has come to a close, with Sander Lepper in first place overall with his Mantra M4. For full results, go to www.flylaragne.com. Congratulations to all of the pilots who participated in the comp, braving too much rain and several down days. Swedish pilot Staffan Rolfsson won the glider raffle, and has chosen a new Rush 3 to take home with him. Congratulations, Staffan! The 6th edition of the Ozone Chabre Open is currently on in Laragne, France. Over 100 pilots from around the world have descended on Laragne hoping for some classic early summer flying in the French Alps. So far, the best day of flying was Task 1 on Monday, where 14 pilots who had never made goal before were able to experience the satisfaction of crossing that line. The Chabre Open is by now a well known event in the PG world, renowned for excellent organization, a friendly and fun atmosphere, and an environment that is highly conducive to learning and progression for pilots interested in experiencing XC Competitions. Jocky Sanderson is on-site to give coaching and daily de-briefings to pilots, there is evening entertainment several times during the week, and of course the final night usually ends with a wonderfully messy party for 100 XC pilots. Stay tuned for more updates and photos. For further info and daily task reports, please go to www.flylaragne.com and navigate to 2011 Chabre Open. Cheers from all the Team!
