Ozone Team pilot Nico Aubert recently undertook an extraordinary journey from the northernmost point of Spain, Estaca de Bares, to the southern destination of Tarifa. Covering over 1000 km in just three and a half days, he flew unassisted using a foot-launched paramotor, spending nights in a tent he carried and making pit stops at petrol stations.
This challenging adventure proved to be both a physical and mental test, requiring careful planning to navigate Spain's complex airspace. Nico encountered unexpected situations, such as early morning fog at a mountain peak and a minor issue with the propeller, prompting him to improvise routes on the fly.
Reflecting on the project, Nico shared, "During this journey, I flew with the ViperXC in an 18m size, and I can only say what a marvelous wing it is. I covered over 1000 km, approximately 20 hours of flight in three and a half days of adventure, navigating turbulent conditions and wind. Thanks to the wing, I always felt secure. Since trying the Viper XC, I knew it would be my everyday wing for exhibitions and adventures. Now, I am eager to continue exploring the world from above with my paramotor."
Upon a joyful landing in Tarifa, Nico was warmly welcomed by friends and family. This paramotor journey marks a significant shift for him – a transition from competitive slalom to a newfound focus on exploration and pushing personal boundaries.
Cheers from all the Ozone Team.
