Announcing the 3rd annual Ozone Caribbean XC Challenge! You all know what this is by now... Now in its third year, this event has gained a reputation for being one of the more adventurous and at the same time stress-free comps in the world. Held in the Dominican Republic, the theme of this event is Education and Entertainment for pilots of intermediate to advanced ability. Jocky Sanderson will be on-site, as usual, to help direct the comp and to provide coaching and briefings to the pilots in order to improve your XC Flying. Daily lectures and GPS map de-briefings, XC advice from Jocky and other top Ozone Team Pilots, all accomodation, retrieve, and more, are included in the comp fees. This year one of the most significant differences is the hotel. For more info go to www.CaribbeanXC.com, but basically we'll be living it up in the posh Marriott in the city of Santiago. Although the hotel is first class, there will be no shortage of Dominican culture and pilots need only walk out the front door to be in the midst of Caribbean nightlife and a multitude of sightseeing opportunities. This year the comp will be held at the Casabito take-off again, but later in the season with the hope that we'll have slightly more consistent and less inverted conditions. Typical weather for Casabito (Bonao) in mid-late February is a moderate cloudbase of around 1800m, climbs of around 1-5m/s (200-1000fpm), light wind, and mild temps (wearing shorts at cloudbase is no problem!). Stay tuned for more info, and stand by for registration, which opens on September 15. Comp dates: February 17 to 23, 2007. Cheers from all the Team!
