Luc Armant
Luc started to fly in 2001 at the age of 26. His passion for wind, sailing, and traction kites led him to paragliding.
Luc joined Ozone’s R&D team in 2008. We were very fortunate to be able to steal him away from a very serious job where he worked as a fluid dynamics expert, Naval Architect, and Engineer.
Luc likes to work on “Complex projects involving fluid dynamics, and finding solutions to technical problems.”
“The most rewarding part of my job is when friends enjoy a wing we have made. And when they say it’s the best wing they ever flew. When competitors copy your work. Also performance and competition are a good part of the inspiration”
Luc’s first brainchild at Ozone was the HPP, or High Performance Paraglider, which was a functioning ultra-high-aspect ratio 2-line design with record breaking glide performance. The next phase of the project was the BBHPP (Baby HPP), a carbon-reinforced 2-line design that made its debut at the 2009 PWC Superfinal. Ozone sent two wings to the event, and they took first and second place… by a lot. Competitors immediately cried foul, and it could be said that in that season, Luc broke the sport of paragliding.
The comfortable and high-performance 2-line designs, shark nose profiles, and many other advanced performance features that we now, ten years later, tend to take for granted, were born from Luc’s efforts on the Ozone R&D Team.
