"Jordan had been on my radar for a while, so when the Royal Jordanian Gliding Club invited me to help organize a paramotor event, I jumped at the chance. Preparations took months due to slow legal procedures, but once airspace permissions were secured, everything fell into place. We kept the group small - just 9 pilots - and planned for mid-October, when conditions are usually ideal.
Just days before our trip, news broke of conflict in Gaza, but Matias and I decided to go ahead, arriving early to scout flight sites in Petra, Wadi Rum, and Aqaba. Despite concerns about safety near sensitive borders, we received a warm welcome from local authorities and even got approval for a night show!
Aqaba's airspace was limited, but Wadi Rum exceeded all expectations - endless desert landscapes, morning flights among rock formations, dunes, camels, and hot air balloons. It felt like a paramotor playground. Petra, while stunning from the air, was more challenging due to altitude, terrain, and sensitive historical sites.
The local hospitality and culture made a lasting impression. I spent two incredible weeks in Jordan and left with unforgettable memories. Huge thanks to RJGC and Captain Abdullah for making it all possible - I can’t wait to return."
