Andrea Borrello
How old are you and where are you from? I am 28 years old and I live in a small village called Prevalle (Lombardia) in the north of Italy. I am used to flying afterwork between the southern part of Lake Garda, but also Lake Idro and Lake Iseo areas. During the weekend I usually go to northern part of Lake Garda or Lake Ledro and the stunning Dolomites - places that offer some amazing lines and landscapes.
How did you first start flying? I was first introduced to flying by doing a commercial tandem flight close to my hometown. I liked it so much that I decided to do the paragliding course. Coming from years of alpinism, climbing and skiing it came to my mind the idea to combine all the disciplines and I started to do hike and fly, climb and fly, ski and fly. Then I met the right people that introduced me to speedflying and it fascinated me to the point that I decided to focus all my energies on it!
What do you do for work? At the moment, I am working full time as a quality control operator for an automotive company which builds axles for buses and trucks.
What does Speedflying mean to you? Speedflying is important to me because I truly love its simplicity: you just need a harness and a little glider and you are ready to do something incredible. Also, it gives me the sensation of pure freedom. I started it in a difficult moment of my life and it always helped me to focus on the present and free my mind, even if it is only for a few minutes. Moreover, it allowed me to meet my speedflying mentor and best friend Filippo and a lot of other people from all over the world that shared the same fire for this common passion. Last but not least, it is an excuse to get in shape, travel around and discover the wildest places on earth.
