Maurice Koller

Where do you live?
In the beautiful Allgäu in the Bavarian alps

What do you do for work?
I’m a student.

What year, and how old were you when you started flying?
I started in 2017 just before turning 20.

Did a family member introduce you to paragliding? Does anyone else in your family fly?
My dad introduced me to paragliding and took me in the tandem as early as age 5 but it somehow took me 15 more years to realize how much fun paragliding is. I really learned a lot from him. My grandpa is also still flying.

What other passions do you have, or activities do you enjoy?
I enjoy almost anything involving sport. During the winter I do lots of skimo. In the summer mostly trailrunning/hiking.

Why is flying important to you, and what does flying mean to you?
I feel the happiest whenever I’m under my paraglider. The possibilities are almost endless and I’m always super focused on the flying without any other distractions.

Flying accomplishment

  • Bordairrace Series 2019: 2nd Overall, 1st Rookie
  • Bordairrace Chiemsee: 9th (my first h&f race participation)
  • Bordairrace Montafon: 1st
  • Bordairrace Bad Aussee: 6th
  • First 200km FAI in 2019

Do you have any goals, dreams or plans for the next 1-2 years that you want to share?
I sure do, but we’ll see what can become reality . I definitely want to start doing cool bivy trips, preferably with friends. Also more hike&fly races and comps in general for sure.
