Love it !! - super dynamic - great handling and real fun to carve around close to terrain - razor sharp turning - well done!! The wing feels super safe, and solid. …Seems to soar hugely better than XT16. Thanks for a very good and versatile fun machine!

I’ve been flying the Firefly over the last few days, and I’m really
impressed with its performance. I just flew off Mystic in Victoria,
Australia (1500ft, 4:1 slope) which was awesome! It is the first speed wing
to make the landing area, which was good because there aren’t many options
in between!! I would like to extend a big THANK YOU to everyone at Ozone for
producing such an amazing wing. You guys rock! Big double thumbs up from
Down Under!!
Detailed thoughts:
Ozone Firefly
All Up Weight was 100kg. Wind was 12-17kts, very crossed and gusty. Trimmers
were set to slow flight, (as is recommended in the flight manual for
turbulent conditions.).
The Firefly doesn’t come up as easily as the XT16, and it is much more
twitchy once it is up.
Once airborne it handled the turbulence well, with no signs of collapse in
conditions that would have tested the XT16. It feels very stable. I didn’t
soar it, I just did a sleddie, so I am yet to throw it around, but it feels
at least as responsive as the XT16, probably more so.
Glide ratio was way better than the XT16, hands down. Quite amazing for the
size and stability. Once again, I need more time to really pin it down, but
I think Nick Burden is on the money: it is probably 5:1 or better.
Flare authority was awesome. Loads in reserve, which is good to know.
My initial impression of the Firefly leaves me agreeing with Ozone: it is a
trickier wing to fly than the XT16, and a season on the XT16 would be a very
good idea.

“WoW” what a wing, i absolutely love it….. I wanted a Speed wing and to be honest i have tried a few on the hill here in south Wales like the ____, ___, ______ and ______; none of them seemed to give me the wow factor, I saw the promo video for the Firefly and thought yea that’s what i want so when i was bumping my gums about wanting a firefly a few people said i was taking a risk buying a wing I haven’t flown, however i had all faith in Ozone from my first flights on the hill with the Element to my everyday paraglider “Rush 2″ keeping me safe on my cross country flights I just knew the firefly would be everything i wanted.
After flying i felt i had to write this to say a big thank you for producing such a Fun, Fast, Agile and Stable wing….. within a few minuets I felt confident enough to throw the wing around to the envy of the pilots who couldn’t fly as it was to strong for paragliders, it was truly amazing and I was shaking all over with the adrenalin it was awesome. It has now opened my flying wind immensely and can’t wait for some coastal soaring at Rhossilli here in South Wales, perfect for it
