Jim & Cath Welsh >> Kite Yukon update
Hey everyone,
Since it is the last couple weeks of season I thought that I should send a Kite Yukon update. The end of the season has been unreal, during our Haines Summit trip we got around 4 ft of fresh Pow the first weekend. Awesome. We devoted a good part of the season to exploring some new areas and have come up with some amazing kite playgrounds (see photos). The more we explore the more we realize that we have one of the best kite playgrounds in the world. My favourite quote of the season was from a guest from Quebec. As we crested glacier onto the plateau we were about to kite, he said “This is
not fair to the rest of the kiters in the world” I think that he is right. If you are sitting in Whitehorse reading this wax up your skis and get your ass out to the summit.
It was a big learning year for the Kite Yukon team we are seeing more gliding and more technical airs all around. It has been really fun to watch our kite community grow and have input from new people coming out to join us. We made a 2 month trip to Turks and Caicos and had some amazing kiting, we would like to organize a group kite trip to our Caribbean facility next season it is a sweet spot.
Kite Yukon is preparing to do our first guided kite expeditions next season so if you don’t live in the Yukon and would like to come check it out send us a line.
If you are flying an older kite and are ready to upgrade we have two 2010 Manta kites left in stock. We would be happy to make you an end of the season deal, this years manta is the nicest kite I have ever flown hands down.
We are in the process of editing the next Kite Yukon Video, we got some amazing footage this season, if you have some good photos or footage from the season feel free to send it our way.
Here are a couple shots of our playground. Make sure you soak up the last couple weeks of season.
Life is good
