Sebastien Coupy >> Mauritius to Reunion Island Kite Crossing
This news piece has not yet been translated but will be soon, thank you for your patience. Sebastien Coupy recently completed his mission of Kitesurfing from Mauritius to Reunion Island!
The bailiff gave the confirmation of his record after checking the GPS track.
Start time in Mauritius Island: 8 h 41 mn 51 sec (2km radial around the B1start point)
Goal in Réunion Island: 15 h 56 mn 14 sec (2km radial around the A1goal point)
Time record: first person in kite boarding, 7 h 14 mn 23 s.
Distance: 170.4 km (in one of the more difficult oceans in the world)
Sebastien needed a performance kite that he could count on for the long open ocean crossing, and he chose to use the Ozone Edge.
Here is some feedback from Sebastien about the Edge’s performance during his crossing.
“I’m so happy for Ozone and I.
The Edge 11m is an amazing kite. During the crossing the wind was sometimes quite strong (25knots) and sometimes very low (10knots). The average was 16knots.
At one moment, a big cloud blew over with rain and strong wind for period of 10 minutes. After that the wind was dropping and I had to wait 40 minutes swimming in the water. As soon as the light wind came in again, the take off of the Edge was very easy.”
Congratulations Sebastien!
Cheers
The Ozone team
