In 2008 stefano Gigli organised the first Sardinia kite experience. It was a great success and this year Kari has joined as well. She loved it, the Italians loved her and she will be back next year for sure! It has been an adventure with a lot of kiting, fun people, and a great Italian experience.
Sardinia is such a nice island with a large amount of possibilities for kiting in any wind condition. We’ve been kiting in crystal clear water with nice waves and flat water.
In the waves the light is a perfect kite to use, its fast and it loses the power when you are doing a bottom turn so you won’t get pulled out of the wave.
For freestyle the sport is an amazing kite. There is more feeling in the bar, like a little more bar pressure, as most of the people wanted to have in this kite. The big sizes turn fast, and the smaller sizes are slower than last year which is good for freestyle. All sizes react immediately on every movement which creates a good contact with you and the kite.
The new bar has a different touch which is a little more comfortable, and with only 4 lines its clear, easy and with the ozone safety quality guarantee. With the safety on the chickenloop you are able to re-ride once you’ve pulled it, which makes this a perfect freestyle bar.
Sardinia has it all, just decide what conditions you want. Stefano Gigli, event organizer and Italian ozone distributor arranged a place for all of us. I think about 75 Ozone people, that is already 25 more people compared to last year. From breakfast till dinner, everything was planned and organised. We were visiting new spots every day with all the riders and photographers, ready to take shots of us having a great time in the water testing the new Ozone kites. At night we usually have dinner at the big boss’ (Stefano’s) house, or we went out to visit a nice Italian restaurant with all the people. Also Mark has joined the crew for a couple of days, Matt couldn’t come so this was the stand-in, and Mark has done a great job riding huge waves, big up for Mark. Matt and other people who couldn’t make it… we hope you will join us next year, because this is a event you cant miss when you are with Ozone.
Lex has been out for a little kitelooping sessions, here is his opinion about the set up and his experience…
“For unhooked kitelooping I switch to 15 metre lines, now the kite will lose some power and you have to work more which is normal, but once you jump and loop you immediately know that this is the 2009 sport, all new features come back in one pull. A lot of power, fast turning and good reaction. You cant afford to make a mistake when you are above your kite and this kite will let you loop easily with style and power. It comes back up quick, ready for the next one!
We want to thank Stefano Gigli once again, this is the number one…
