Su Kay from New Zeeland Training Hard

This news piece has not yet been translated but will be soon, thank you for your patience.

Sue Kay, New Zealand Woman’s Kiteboard Champion is getting ready to hit the KPWT Tour riding the Instincts. Sue runs a kitesurf school in NZ with her husband David Kay (DECAY KITEBOARDS) and must be the most passionate Kitesurfing couple on the planet.

Read on for some news from Sue :

“First off I’m heading to the CMIO www.cindymoseyislandodyssey.com in a couple of weeks time. Should be a blast and good training for the KPWT event in New Caledonia at the end of November. Then it’s back to NZ for Speed Week down at Glenorchy (Queenstown), organised by windsurfers, but they are quite welcoming of us kiters. Decay’s working on a specialist speed board for me, which will hopefully have me getting close to the speeds of the top women in the world. Then a month’s training for the New Zealand Nationals, which are scheduled for the 2nd last week of January in Nelson.

I’m absolutely loving my 11m Instinct and am feeling confident doing unhooked freestyle in 10 to 25knots with it. On Sunday we had a fantastic flat water estuary session in gusty frontal conditions which saw other heavier kiters changing down to 9m bows while I was still happy on my 11. Off course there are advantages to having a smaller kite for the unhooked kiteloops in bigger winds, but I couldn’t be bothered pumping one up if it takes 20 minutes off my session! Going big has taken on a new meaning and this was proved on Sunday by another kiter on an 11m Instinct who was getting more height and hang time than any of the other kiters on the water.

The Instinct is starting to turn heads down here - we just need to show it off to more people!”

Cheers Sue
